Be Carbon Literate has been appointed by Cooler Projects and Manchester Metropolitan University to develop the Manchester Carbon Literacy train-the-trainer programme.
Nicola Percival of Be Carbon Literate will be developing two programmes tailored to meet particular trainer learning needs across the City. People new to training but keen to be a part of carbon literacy delivery will be able to attend the Introductory Train-the-Trainer programme. This 1-day course will introduce the delegates to basic learning theory and explain how to structure a course and deliver it in a way that is engaging to the participants. It will also explain the requirements of the MCL standard and equip the delegates with the knowledge and skills they need to effectively deliver Carbon Literacy training.
The alternative Train-the-Trainer course available is for advanced trainers who are familiar with training techniques. This course will explain the requirements of the MCL standard and equip the delegates with the knowledge and skills they need to effectively deliver Carbon Literacy training
The advanced course was piloted at Manchester Metropolitan University last week. It is designed to address the knowledge parts of the Standard, and to give participants enough information and examples to begin to map out how to incorporate carbon literacy into their existing units.
Further pilots of both courses are scheduled at Manchester Metropolitan University for:
- Wednesday 17th April: Introductory Train-the-Trainer
- Thursday 18th April: Advanced Train-the-Trainer
Both courses will be accredited to the Standard meaning that participants who successfully complete the course will be themselves carbon literate.
